  6. Introduction and installation

  8. Version 6.0 of Microsoft Word for Windows has received
  9. glowing reviews in PC Magazine, PC/Computing and other
  10. publications.  It's a remarkable program.  But it could
  11. use some help in at least one area: file management.
  12.  
  13. File Manager Jr. addresses this need.  It allows the 
  14. user to delete, copy and rename Word documents--and to 
  15. perform many other file-management operations--without 
  16. having to switch to the Windows File Manager.
  17.  
  18. Installation should take only a few minutes.  Procedure:
  19.  
  20. 1. Copy FMJ.DOT from the File Manager Jr. package to 
  21.    the directory where Word templates are stored.  The 
  22.    default directory is C:\WINWORD\TEMPLATE.  (If 
  23.    you're inexperienced at copying files and need help,
  24.    see pages 121-124 of the Windows 3.1 User's Guide.)

  26. 2. Start Word.

  28. 3. On the File menu, choose New.  A list of templates
  29.    appears.  Highlight the name Fmj.  Choose OK.

  31. 4. On the Tools menu, choose Macro.  A list of macro 
  32.    names appears.  Highlight the name FileMgrJrInstall.
  33.    Choose Run.  Follow the onscreen directions.

  36. The file TUTOR.FMJ contains all program documentation.
  37. The file is placed in the main Word directory when you 
  38. install File Manager Jr.

  40. You should have the following files in your package:
  41. FMJ.DOT, JUNK.FMJ, LICENSE.FMJ, NAMELIST.FMJ, 
  42. READ_1ST.TXT, TUTOR.FMJ and XQ_$!_QX.FMJ.

  44. Changes:  The previous version of File Manager Jr.
  45. allowed the user to store and access files in a master
  46. directory and in two levels of subdirectories below
  47. the master directory.  Version 1.5 allows the user to
  48. store and access files in the master directory and in
  49. four levels of subdirectories below the master
  50. directory.  There are several other changes.  The
  51. Kill BAKs command, for example, has been modified.

  55. The Shareware Concept
  56.  
  57. Because File Manager Jr. is a shareware program, 
  58. you're free to try it without obligation.  If you 
  59. decide to keep using the program after a trial period 
  60. of 30 days, you're required to pay a registration fee 
  61. to the author. If you obtained a copy of File Manager 
  62. Jr. directly from the author and paid a registration 
  63. fee in advance, you have 30 days from the registration 
  64. date to decide whether to keep using the program.  If 
  65. you decide not to, you can obtain a refund.

  67. If you have not registered your copy of the program, 
  68. you can register by making a payment of $15 (U.S.) to 
  69. Charles Maher, 409 North 18th Street, Coeur d'Alene, 
  70. Idaho 83814-5460.  If you have a MasterCard or Visa 
  71. account, you can call toll-free to register.  Dial 
  72. 1-800-215-3688 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific time.

  75. product developed by vendor 3864.  You can also 
  76. register on CompuServe. Type GO SWREG.  The CompuServe
  77. Registration ID for File Manager Jr. is 5059.

  80. program documentation and a 3.5-inch disk containing 
  81. an uncompressed copy of the program.  Registered users 
  82. are entitled to support and to discounts on upgrades.
