File Manager Jr. 1.5
A Shareware Program
Introduction and installation
Version 6.0 of Microsoft Word for Windows has received
glowing reviews in PC Magazine, PC/Computing and other
publications. It's a remarkable program. But it could
use some help in at least one area: file management.
File Manager Jr. addresses this need. It allows the
user to delete, copy and rename Word documents--and to
perform many other file-management operations--without
having to switch to the Windows File Manager.
Installation should take only a few minutes. Procedure:
1. Copy FMJ.DOT from the File Manager Jr. package to
the directory where Word templates are stored. The
default directory is C:\WINWORD\TEMPLATE. (If
you're inexperienced at copying files and need help,
see pages 121-124 of the Windows 3.1 User's Guide.)
2. Start Word.
3. On the File menu, choose New. A list of templates
appears. Highlight the name Fmj. Choose OK.
4. On the Tools menu, choose Macro. A list of macro
names appears. Highlight the name FileMgrJrInstall.
Choose Run. Follow the onscreen directions.
The file TUTOR.FMJ contains all program documentation.
The file is placed in the main Word directory when you
install File Manager Jr.
You should have the following files in your package:
FMJ.DOT, JUNK.FMJ, LICENSE.FMJ, NAMELIST.FMJ,
READ_1ST.TXT, TUTOR.FMJ and XQ_$!_QX.FMJ.
Changes: The previous version of File Manager Jr.
allowed the user to store and access files in a master
directory and in two levels of subdirectories below
the master directory. Version 1.5 allows the user to
store and access files in the master directory and in
four levels of subdirectories below the master
directory. There are several other changes. The
Kill BAKs command, for example, has been modified.
The Shareware Concept
Because File Manager Jr. is a shareware program,
you're free to try it without obligation. If you
decide to keep using the program after a trial period
of 30 days, you're required to pay a registration fee
to the author. If you obtained a copy of File Manager
Jr. directly from the author and paid a registration
fee in advance, you have 30 days from the registration
date to decide whether to keep using the program. If
you decide not to, you can obtain a refund.
If you have not registered your copy of the program,
you can register by making a payment of $15 (U.S.) to
Charles Maher, 409 North 18th Street, Coeur d'Alene,
Idaho 83814-5460. If you have a MasterCard or Visa
account, you can call toll-free to register. Dial
1-800-215-3688 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific time.
If you have a modem, you can use a 24-hour number:
1-800-503-2292. Indicate that you are registering a
product developed by vendor 3864. You can also
register on CompuServe. Type GO SWREG. The CompuServe
Registration ID for File Manager Jr. is 5059.
Each registered user receives a printout of the
program documentation and a 3.5-inch disk containing
an uncompressed copy of the program. Registered users
are entitled to support and to discounts on upgrades.
Support is provided by telephone (208-664-3864), by
fax (208-664-9743) and by CompuServe mail (76476,3400).
For more about terms of use, see the file LICENSE.FMJ.
Association of Shareware Professionals
File Manager Jr. is produced by a member of the
Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP). ASP
wants to make sure that the shareware principle works
for you. If you are unable to resolve a shareware-
related problem with an ASP member by contacting the
member directly, ASP may be able to help. The ASP
Ombudsman can help you resolve a dispute or problem
with an ASP member but does not provide technical
support for members' products. Please write the ASP
Ombudsman at 545 Grover Road, Muskegon, Michigan
49442-9427 (Fax 616-788-2765), or send a message via
